to the Chief Minister of Kerala (1.46 MB - PDF File)
Today Kerala has achieved 100% literacy but it is highly contradictory
that it occupies the highest place in matters of crimes. The
aged people are not able to lead a peaceful life. They have
become an unwanted community. As far as the rich are concerned
they do not suffer for food and shelter. The element of love
and care are denied to them. The case of destitute is most
despicable. They have no means to satisfy their primary needs.
The present day youth shirk the responsibility to look after
the aged. Though the government and social organisations are
coming forward to redress the grievances of these neglected
lot they are all quite insufficient. Because of the lack of
moral values in the curriculum, the youth are either ignorant
or indifferent in the matter of caring the aged kith and kin.
In the name of stuffing the brains of the youth with scientific
knowledge the moral values are neglected.
The
causes of alarming rate of increase in the criminal tendencies
may be many and it may be part of the universal phenomenon.
But the important reason is the ignorance of the human values.
Even the approach to life itself is not properly motivated.
No one is bothered about the responsibilities to the parents,
to the society and to the nation. The fault lies at the root,
in the threshold of education. Nothing substantial could be
effected by the mere oath taking of India is my country; all
Indians are my brothers and sisters… Real transformation
will take place only if they are given a true knowledge of
the heritage and culture of our motherland.
The
moral values imbedded in our culture are true to all religious.
They are the treasures for the whole of humanity. We should
be proud of our forefathers who were the progenitors such
a splendid culture. The lives of great man and their values
should be taught as a special subject in all educational institutions.
The moral value must be taught from the primary level.
